Nominating and Voting Procedures

In December 2007, Ohio’s Buckeye Children’s Book Award changed its nominating and voting procedures from a 2 year cycle to a one year cycle. Nominations occur from December 1 to March 1.

The top five nominations in each category will then be announced by mid-March, so that teachers, librarians and students can become familiar with the different books and read them over the summer.

Voting will take place between September 1 and November 10, and the winner will be announced on December 1.

Students may only nominate books published in the previous 2 years (for paperbacks, check the original hardcover publication date), and the author must be an American author.
